Introducing US-NYC1: UpCloud arrives in the Big Apple with a new data centre!

benefit-4
To provide even better cloud services to our valued users at the East Coast of the US, we are launching a new data centre in New York City. We are excited that after Chicago and San Jose, it is already our third data centre in the United States. Our new New York data centre is already available for deploying servers. You can find it at your UpCloud Control Panel as US-NYC1 and of course directly via our API. Opening of the New York data centre is a part of our global growth plan. It is being fueled by the €18 million investment secured at the beginning of 2020. The US-NYC1 is the first of several new data centres we are opening this year. Although we are not yet able to unveil the exact locations coming up, you can look forward to multiple brand new sites by the end of the year.

New EPYC performance!

All our data centres provide exceptional performance and comply with the highest security standards. However, US-NYC1 is our first data centre running fully on the new AMD EPYC processor architecture! The new breed of server processors sets a higher standard for data centres with more CPU cores and increased performance on virtually all workloads. We have also already been deploying EPYC hardware to our other data centres to run alongside the existing Intel Xeon hosts. However, if you want to make sure you’re running on EPYC, deploy in US-NYC1! On top of that, the data centre runs on 100% renewable wind power. Having more data centres in different regions can significantly increase performance and reliability. Reducing the distance to the end-user also shortens the website load times and improves the overall user experience. And no matter where you are located, you will always receive our 24/7 support. Thanks to our helpful teams located in Helsinki, London, Seattle and Singapore, you get the same around the clock service anywhere in the world.

Please note: At the time of publication of this article, we stated that the US-NYC1 is powered by 100% renewable energy. This has proven incorrect. The actual energy mix is 60% coal and gas, 34% nuclear, 4% renewable and 2% other sources. We apologise for the error and any inconvenience it might have caused.
